World premiere for the Théâtre de la musique, March 16, 1970
« Hétéro-Concert » »
Permanent version for four stand-alone tape recorders. A series of colliding realistic sounds and sonic images. Whilst walking, a man is struck by the violence of his surroundings. Nature has disappeared in a whirlwind of warfare and industry in the midst of which he encounters a dying folklore and a lost young girl.
The "Installation" version is used to sonify a place in which walkers are free to choose their musical itinerary.

This is the sound of Earth, a chaotic undercurrent off all that was, all that is and all that will be.
The intertwined confluence of uncanny dissonance and twisted realities, but also the unbearable revelation of the hidden strings of the very fabric of existence contorting in a disgusting, yet fascinating way before our dumbfounded eyes.
Light has a taste of sand, sound has a feeling of glass. We wanted to witness this, but were not prepared to withstand such truths.
Ambitious and visionary. Dotflac

Hooked from the very start of A1. An incredible concept executed in the best way imaginable, and it’s gonna be talked about for decades. Every track leaves me with a sickening feeling of bleakness, but I can’t stop listening. It evokes an absurd amount of thoughts and emotions without a single word spoken. jek
